the children of the North Hawaii community. The 10th annual Keiki
Fest is scheduled for Saturday, April 18th, 2009 from 10am - 1pm at the
Parker Ranch Center and the YMCA field. The event is geared to children from Pre K
through 6th grade and their families, although there are activities suitable for ages 0 -
100+!
Why and how did the Keiki Fest
get started? The Keiki fest began six years ago as an effort to bring all of the
schools in Waimea together to celebrate the health and safety of the
children of North Hawaii. For a brief history of Keiki Fest please visit
the history page.
What types booths participate in the Healthy Keiki
Fest? Businesses, health care providers, educators,
scientists, police officers, retailers, farmers, ranchers, non profit
organizations and many more members of the community prepare an
interactive booth where kids can learn about a particular profession,
discover something new, explore their health and wellness, or make something creative.
What are the requirements for a
Keiki Fest booth presenter? Booth presenters are asked to design an interactive experience for
children that is educational as well as fun. The booth should allow
children to play, create something, participate in a game or activity, and
discover something new. A few examples include: peering into a microscope,
craft making, fishing for prizes, animal yoga, teeth cleaning, petting
zoo.
What is provided to the booth presenter on Keiki Fest
day? Booths are placed through out the walkways, food
court and parking lot of the Parker Ranch Center as well out in the YMCA field. Most booths
require one 6 ft. table. Additionally, booth presenters may make
